PM announces welfare schemes for expectant mothers, farmers, traders, and senior citizens

NEW DELHI:  Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation here today on various issues including demonetisation’s benefits and its impact on the society. In his 45 minutes speech, he spoke on the demonetisation, which he announced during his last address to the nation on November 8, with a view to curb the black money.  While addressing the nation he said that, since Diwali, our nation has been witness to a “shudhi yagna” (rite of purification).  He went on to say that, the 125 crore Indian showed the patience and discipline. Their patience and firmness will surely play a critical role in shaping the future of the nation for the years to come.  He thanked the country for their support in his demonetisation move. He also said that his effort is to make the banking operation normal as soon as possible in the New Year. There is no precedent globally, to what India has done, he added.

While addressing the nation, he announced that his Government is bringing some new welfare schemes for the people.  He announced housing loan scheme, under which a borrower will get a 3% interest relief for loans up to 2 lakh, 4% relief for loans up to 9 lakh and 3 per cent interest relief for loans up to 12 lakh. Announcing the relief to the farmers, he said that this year the Rabi harvest has been high and the government will take care of interest for 60 days for farmers who had taken loans from district cooperative central bank. He also announced the conversion of 3 crore Kisan Credit Cards into RuPay credit cards in 3 months.

He also extended the government’s help to MSME by raising the credit guarantee from 1 crore to 2 crore for small entrepreneurs. He assured that the shopkeepers and small businessmen will also get benefitted because of this. PM Modi announced a big financial help as maternity benefit. Under this scheme, the expectant mothers are entitled to get ₹ 6,000 for their delivery, vaccination and nutritious meals. This financial aid will be directly transferred to their account.

Criticizing the Saturday’s PM speech the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said in her tweet message that, “Modi Babu wanted 50 days to deliver promises. He badly failed. PM who runs nation in the name of Suddhikaran just underwent Buddhiharan.”  She also said that “the Nation Address became the Budget Address.”
