Lucknow— The political temperature in Uttar Pradesh continues to rise, where assembly polls are expected in just a few weeks. The family feud of Ram Manohar Lohia’s disciple Mulayam Singh Yadav doesn’t seem to halt. In a recent leadership coup, son Akhilesh Yadav sacked his father as National President of the Samajwadi Party.
Earlier this week, party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav took a drastic step of expelling his own son and Chief Minister of the state along with the party’s general secretary and his cousin Ram Gopal Yadav from the party on the disciplinary ground for six years. However, their expulsion was revoked next day. But, a high voltage drama was staged here today, when a special emergency meeting of the executive body of the party called by Ram Gopal Yadav chose Akhilesh as national President of the party.
Now beleaguered Mulayam Singh Yadav has called a party’s national convention on January 5. He termed the national executive meeting held on Sunday as unconstitutional and stated all declarations passed at this meeting as illegal. Mulayam also sacked Ram Gopal Yadav as national General Secretary of the party, who convened the special emergency meeting. Earlier, in a special emergency meeting party’s state president Shivpal Yadav and Rajya Sabha member Amar Singh were also expelled. Both father and son are claiming to sacrifice everything to save the party.
